After Irma hit their home, Gabby managed to get out this text:
“We watched our roof just tear apart. I remember saying to Sharon, this seems like a tornado…we both were saying our prayers…it seemed as though it would never stop. When the storm did stop we could not get out due to roads being impassable. We were able to find a comforter…Sharon used that comforter to sleep on in the car…for 3 nights.”
The next day, friends came calling Gabby and Sharon’s names, they were grateful for their lives. The bottom line is Gabby, like so many of our people are ready to start rebuilding their lives.
Homes for St. Johnians is all about helping those who need help the most. Ours is a long term, ongoing effort that won’t be complete until every St. Johnian has a decent place to call home.
